Year 6 Camp Fundraiser - continued

Hi,
This is Grace continuing on from Joelle's blog about the Year 6 camp fundraiser.
As most of you know we have been doing this fundraiser to earn money to help pay for our Year 6 children to go to camp.
Ms.D was giving out jobs to people.  While some kids went to get the flat bread some of us had to cut or grate ingredients or shred the chicken. I got the job of taking photos of everyone working together and blogging about it to all of you!!!!
You were given two choices of what you could choose between in your wraps.

      BEAN WRAP:                             WHATS IN IT?
                                            *Mild chilli beans
                                   *Sour cream
                                *Coleslaw
                             *Cheese

CHICKEN WRAP:                           WHATS IN IT?
                                                                                        *Chicken
                              *Coleslaw
                           *Cheese
                                           *Sweet chilli sauce

Sounds good right?

Anyway since the Teina (junior) syndicate are out for their Wind Walk, we started to make their wraps for them first and then Claire delivered the wraps to them when they stopped off at the park. How we did it?After we made their wraps we bagged them up and put a sticker on them that said their name.

Then it was time to make the wraps for the children at school. A runner went to get the children and they lined up and told the servers what they wanted in their wrap and the servers put the fillings in.

The good news was that we raised $200 for the Camp.

Here are a few photos of what we did.

CHICKEN!!!!! MMMMM!!!!!

Took awhile to make though...

The wrap tasted so good!!!

Plus it looks good too!!!

The Great Land Yacht Race

Today in the hall we had a race. It wasn't like any other race.
IT WAS THE GREAT LAND YACHT RACE!!!!!

Over the term we had a rotation. Every Tuesday we would go to a different class.
There was art, drama, dance, Kapa Haka and last of all technology.

For technology we made land yachts. All we could make it from was four milk bottle tops, a piece of cardboard and paper, two kebab stick axles and two kebab sticks for whatever.

During the weeks the classes would race and two yachts would win the race.
Only they made it to the semi finals.

At the end of the rotations we had the final race...
TEN WEEKS OF FRUSTRATION, AND MAKING...
FIVE HEATS WITH ELIMINATION...
THREE SEMI FINALS...
ONE EPIC FINAL...
ONE WINNER...

(More like four people!!!!)

Here are those winners....
Emma, Hilal, Thomas (absent) and Michael.

And what a race that was!!!

Year 6 camp fundraiser

In Room 1 we devised a way to earn money for the year 6 camp. We decided to make WRAPS! We taste tested them and they were delicious. Then we had to design a flier to go around the school advertising them. After that Ms. De asked two people to run around the school asking teachers what time they wanted us to tell their class all about the wrap fundraiser. So we collected what they told us and then we choose the time that suited both of us best. Then we went to the classes to explain and show what and about the wraps. And thats what we did for the...

When ASB came to Room 1

On a not so nice day, Vane  came to room 1 to talk about MONEY!!!!!  Vane was from the ASB Get Wise Program. First Vane showed us how we could earn some MONEY!!!! Then Vane showed us  where we should save our MONEY!!!!! In a bank, because after a while the bank will give you some money called interest. Vane showed us a rhyme it goes like this "SPEND SOME ON YOU BUT SAVE SOME TOO"Vane was great fun and I hope he comes back next year!!!!!!!!

Room One's Retellings!

This week Room 1 have been retelling the stories of  'How the kiwi lost it's wings' or
'How Maui slowed the sun'. After we decided what story we were going to retell we
read the story and decided how we were going to present it. My group decided we would use the story 'How the kiwi lost its wings' and we would use  kid pix to create different slides for each part. To start  on the computer,  we first had to write a script in our own words which  showed  where the action took place. We also had  to share out the parts and do a drawing of what our character might look like. Then we started to create..........
On kid pix we had to design a background of the New Zealand bush or the background of Maui's village. We haven't quite finished them but I hope they turn out great!!!!!!

A little about us.

We are a happy bunch of year five and year six students at Miramar Central School. For all of us this is the first time we have blogged. We are looking forward to having fun at the same time as letting anyone who cares to read our blog know a little about what we do.

Monday morning, and most of us look pleased to be here. Those of us who don't look happy are secretly pleased to be here.
